Quinta do Monte Xisto Oriente is an elegant red from the Douro Superior, made from two small east-facing parcels at the Nicolau de Almeida family's estate. With 60% Tinto Cão and 40% Tinta Francisca, it reflects a lighter, more refined expression of the region, shaped by its exposure to the morning sun.
Hand-harvested grapes were brought to the winery in Vila Nova de Foz Côa in 20 kg boxes, then fermented with indigenous yeasts in cement vats. The wine was aged for 18 months in 600L French oak barrels in Vila Nova de Gaia, close to the sea, benefiting from its stable temperature and humidity.
More delicate in color than typical Douro reds, Oriente offers a refined aromatic profile with notes of cherry, wild berries, and dry forest floor. On the palate, it is fresh and balanced, with soft tannins, vibrant acidity, and a long, spicy finish. A graceful wine with versatility across seasons and cuisines.
