This rare bottling of Malvasia from Colares is a stunning example of energy, precision, and place. Produced from ungrafted vines grown in the windswept, sandy soils near the Atlantic, it is a wine of tension and mineral clarity—deeply expressive of its maritime terroir.
The hand-harvested grapes were pressed whole cluster, with fermentation starting in stainless steel tanks and finishing in used 225L French oak barrels. The wine underwent full malolactic fermentation and aged for eight months on the lees with weekly bâtonnage. Only 300 bottles were produced.
On the nose, it shows bright notes of lime, yuzu, and citron peel layered with citrus blossom, white tea, and hints of cardamom and basil. The palate is simultaneously creamy and taut, with piercing salinity and a long, elegant finish. Sea spray, oyster shell, and subtle umami tones add complexity, making this a wine of both finesse and raw coastal power.
